Carrie Underwood surprised churchgoers on Easter with a church performance

The country star performed with a choir at the Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin, Tenn. on Sunday, April 5

Underwood had performed "How Great Thou Art" on American Idol just days prior

Carrie Underwood gave some Tennessee churchgoers an Easter surprise!

Days after she performed "How Great Thou Art" on a faith-centered episode of American Idol, the "Before He Cheats" hitmaker delivered another worship standard at the Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin, Tenn.

In an Instagram Reel shared by an attendee named Danielle Macaulay on April 5, Underwood, 43, could be seen sporting a jean jacket and a floral dress as she once again performed "How Great Thou Art," but this time with a choir at her local church.

"Carrie Underwood just did this on American Idol this past week & I said to Dan as she was singing, “Man, to be in the room for THAT!”, and then boom, she does it at the Easter program we just attended at a nearby church. Wowzers. What a voice," Macaulay captioned the post.

Another churchgoer named Emily shared an Instagram Reel of Underwood performing the track, captioning the post: "When Carrie Underwood sings at your Easter service… 🤍 just one of those moments you don't forget the kind that gives you chills and makes you pause for a second."

They added, "Grateful for this day, this message, and moments that feel a little extra special ✨."In a second Instagram Reel, Emily also captured Underwood singing the worship song "Name Above All Names," which was released in 2024 by Charity Gayle.

"Our Easter service with Carrie Underwood was just too wonderful not to share one more ✝️ Happy Easter. The cross still stands, the blood still flows. The work is finished and hell still knows. The grave is still empty, the stone is still rolled. And You're still high and lifted up. You're still seated on the throne. All praise, all praise to the name above all names," she captioned the post.

In recent years, Underwood has performed worship music at the Rolling Hills Community Church. She also released her gospel album My Savior in 2021.

Per Taste of Country, last week, Underwood opened up to reporters in a media room in Nashville, speaking about the "hardest part" of touring and why it can be emotionally draining for her.

"The hardest part of touring is figuring out what songs you're not going to do," she said at the time.

Underwood added, "Finding that perfect balance of just enough new stuff and obviously the ones that people expect to hear, but I always get sad, I'm like, 'Aww, we're not gonna do that one?'"
