Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has shared candid insights into her enduring marriage to Michael Douglas, confessing the "marriage wouldn't have lasted" under different circumstances. The Welsh star, 57, married the Hollywood legend nearly 26 years ago, and together they have two children.

A marriage spanning more than a quarter century is certainly impressive, particularly in Hollywood. Despite their 25-year age difference, the pair appear destined to remain together for life.

So what's the formula for lasting happiness? According to Oscar-winning Catherine, who claimed her award for her performance in Chicago, it's "working". It comes as Bruce Willis' wife shared a rare photo of the dementia-stricken legend.

She told The Times: "Michael is, like, 'Go and do that job, that's amazing.' And then he's able to fly in and see me for a long weekend," reports Wales Online.

"Much better than waking up, going, 'What do you want for breakfast, honey?' I don't think our marriage would ever have lasted if it was like that."

Catherine first encountered Michael at a film festival in France in 1998 following an introduction by Danny DeVito. They tied the knot just two years later and share son Dylan Michael, 26, and daughter Carys Zeta, 23.

The pair remarkably share the same birthday, September 25, though they were born 25 years apart.

Their relationship hasn't been without challenges, however. Michael received a throat cancer diagnosis in 2010, which the actor subsequently attributed to him performing oral sex.

The following year, Catherine was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and admitted herself to hospital. The couple briefly separated in 2013, before quickly reconciling.

The actress has ruled out relocating back to Wales, where she hasn't resided permanently since her teenage years. Nevertheless, Catherine maintains she still feels a deep connection to the country, though she acknowledges regretting her limited grasp of the Welsh language.

Catherine landed her breakthrough role in The Darling Buds of May aged just 21, starring alongside Sir David Jason and Pam Ferris. The BBC comedy drama caught Hollywood's attention, launching her into major films including The Mask of Zorro, Oceans Twelve and High Fidelity.

She was born and raised in Swansea, Wales. She returns to her authentic accent for the forthcoming Amazon Prime series Kill Jackie, portraying a wealthy art dealer harboring secrets from her past.

Catherine said: "People were, like, 'Thank God she's using her Welsh accent.' I think the response was that it's time for me to be Welsh."

The mother-of-two primarily resides in New York with her husband. The family relocated to Bermuda for a decade to avoid media scrutiny following the birth of their children.
