Frankie Muniz brought his 4-year-old son Mauz to the Malcolm in the Middle reboot premiere, calling it a special moment
Muniz says fatherhood has given him a new perspective and a desire to make his son proud through his work
Muniz shares a close bond with Mauz, who he says is "obsessed" with him and always wants to be by his side
Frankie Muniz had his mini-me with him at the Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair premiere.
The actor, who joins the rest of his Malcolm in the Middle costars in the 2026 reboot, tells PEOPLE that having his son Mauz Mosley, 4, alongside him at the Tuesday, April 7 premiere in New York City was a "really cool moment."
"I don't know if it's weird to show your kid stuff that you did, but obviously I'm proud of it," Muniz says of his iconic television show. "But I love that he got to experience being a part of it."
"I'll always have the photos of my family in front of some Malcolm in the Middle stuff because they weren't obviously around when the show was on 20 years ago," he continues. "So, [it's a] really, really cool moment."

As for what parenthood has taught Muniz about being a dad on screen, the actor shares that it's just brought him "perspective."
"I know it kind of sounds cliché to say, but what you think is important in life, the things that you really focus on, to me, until you have a kid...so many people say that. 'You have no idea.' Even being on set and my son being there, I want to make him proud," he shares.

"I'm doing it for a show, I'm doing it for the producers, I'm doing it for the other actors — but I'm doing it for him," continues the proud dad. "This is a weird kind of perspective that I have on everything. I love having him here."

Back in February 2025, Muniz told PEOPLE that he has a close relationship with his son Mauz — so much so that the actor explained his son was "literally obsessed" with him and "only wants Daddy all the time."
While Muniz admitted "I feel bad for my wife" that Mauz's attention has been captivated by his father, he hopes "to keep that as long as I can."
"I know — eventually he'll be like, 'Dad, get away.' You know what I mean? Right now, all he wants is to be with me," he added.
The actor shared that he is relishing fatherhood. "I love it. I am always striving to be the best dad I can be," he said. "I think I am a good dad, but I always feel like I can be better. So just trying to be there."
