Jersey all-rounder Grace Wetherall has been ruled out of the rest of the Canada Super60 after suffering a dislocated shoulder.
The 19-year-old was hurt as she dived to try to save a boundary in the first innings of Vancouver Anchors' opening game against Vancouver Warriors in the 10-over event.
Her selection made her the first woman from the island to be chosen for a franchise tournament.
Among her team-mates in Vancouver are Pakistan captain Fatima Sana, experienced Australian Laura Harris and English players Davina Perrin, Alexa Stonehouse and Grace Ballinger.
"I was meant to be opening the batting with Laura Harris, which was one of the dreams of mine," Wetherall told BBC Radio Jersey.
"Unfortunately I got robbed from doing that due to injury, but that's cricket - injuries happen and I'm just going to have to go back out next year and prove my point on the stage."
She added: "Even though I didn't get that opportunity, the fact they backed me 100% to go out in the first game and open the batting shows how hard I've worked over the past couple of months with my batting.
"It shows that this is a possible opportunity for me in the future and that I'm not too far out of my depth.

"So it was really cool to have that positive note around the negative sides of things."
Jersey's Wetherall set for 'amazing' franchise chance
Jersey star hopes Australia spell helps her career
Wetherall was part of the Jersey side that won the Challenger Division of the European Cricket Championship in Spain in December 2024 in the 10-over format.
She has played 50 T20 internationals for Jersey, scoring 766 runs.
She spent last winter playing grade cricket in Australia and was part of a European team that played at Lord's earlier this year.
But the injury is a blow for a player who has only recently come back from a stress fracture in her back and a similar problem in her shins.
However, she hopes the experience of making a franchise tournament will stand her in good stead in her future career.
"I don't think this injury, or not being able to prove myself in this tournament, is going to stop me from my dreams and goals and moving on to these franchise tournaments," she added.
"Yes, it's unfortunate. Yes, this probably could have opened some doors for me. But my cricket will talk for itself and I'll get there when I get there."
