LeBron James is getting used to his new helicopter commute.

The NBA superstar, 41, was spotted landing in New York City after traveling from his first scrimmage with the Sixers in Philadelphia on Saturday, Oct. 3.

James kept his outfit casual for the helicopter ride, wearing a black hoodie, black baseball cap and black basketball shorts with various designs on them. The four-time NBA champion completed his look with a pair of black slides as he was seen at VIP Heliport in Manhattan.

According to ESPN, Sixers guard V.J. Edgecome said James arrives at practice before any of his teammates, around 7:45 a.m. ā€œHe was in there before everybody,ā€ Edgecombe told the outlet, adding, ā€œAs usual.ā€

James’ helicopter lands on a pad that sits on top of the Sixers’ business offices, located next to where the team practices, according to ESPN. The organization’s managing partner and primary owner Josh Harris also reportedly travels to and from the facilities via helicopter, per the outlet.

ā€œI ain’t gonna lie, that was funny. One of us left in a helicopter, the other one was sitting on the curb,ā€ Maxey, who had struggled with car trouble that day, joked.

Fans have grown concerned about James commuting via helicopter and questioning his safety, with many pointing to the January 2020 helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant and seven others, as well as the recent headlines featuring helicopter accidents.

On September 16, an NBC helicopter crashed, killing reporter Eliana Moreno and pilot George Marcini, as well as a third person on the ground.Ā Four days later, two crew members of California’s Yosemite National Park died when a helicopter crashed outside of Fresno.

James announced in July that he’ll play his record-breaking 24th season with the 76ers. He signed a two-year, $8 million deal with a player option, according to ESPN.

ā€œThis game. I still truly love this game, and I have more to give,ā€ he said in a post on X announcing his move. ā€œThis is my last decision. I’m not going for money. I’m not going for family. What am I really playing for at this point? I still want to sacrifice. I still want to work. I still want to grind. I still want to compete, to win and to have a chance at the feeling of winning another championship.ā€
