The Martha Stewart bob is, apparently, a thing of the past.
The 85-year-old entrepreneur and TV personality debuted a dramatic chop at her latest outing—and her hair hasn’t been this short in over three decades. Stewart posed on the red carpet at the New York City premiere of The Social Reckoning on October 4. Instead of her signature chin-grazing blonde bob, she rocked a fresh bixie cut that came just past her ears. She styled her new ‘do in a deep side part with a gentle wave adding a little texture to the look.

Along with her new chop, Stewart wore a black asymmetrical jacket with black pants and added a flash of gold with her layered collar statement necklaces and drop earrings.

It has been a long time since Stewart’s hair was this short. In fact, looking through her hairstyles over the years, her last almost-pixie cut was way back in the early to mid-1990s, when she was pictured with short layers that cut off above her chin and shaggy bangs.

Although this may be Stewart’s most dramatic hair transformation in decades, she’s been experimenting with new looks for the past few months. Just last month, she switched up her signature bob by adding a little sweeping volume to the look. A month before that, she had a brief rose gold bob moment. Meanwhile, back in February, Stewart enjoyed a rare updo channeling Pamela Anderson’s famous look.

Stewart recently celebrated her 85th birthday. Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, she reflected on her very practical approach to aging and “good grooming.”
“It’s something that we’re all going to do,” she said of getting older. “You start getting older the minute you’re born, and you have to learn how to deal with it all. It’s about posture, appearance, good grooming, and dressing appropriately. All of those things are extremely important, even though many of us ignore them. We are doing it despite not wanting to.”
