R&B icon Peabo Bryson is undergoing medical care after suffering a stroke, his representative has said.

The two-time Grammy Award-winning singer, known for performing iconic Disney songs such as Beauty and the Beast alongside Celine Dion and A Whole New World from Aladdin alongside Regina Belle, has been hospitalized. His representative said in a statement to Variety on Sunday, "Two-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and balladeer, Peabo Bryson - the voice behind the Oscar-winning Disney songs Beauty and the Beast and A Whole New World - has suffered a stroke and is currently under medical care.

"At this time, the family requests privacy as they navigate this deeply personal moment together. The thoughts, prayers and love of friends and fans are welcomed and deeply appreciated." In September last year, Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil revealed he suffered a stroke in his sleep.

Peabo, best known for his velvety tenor voice, has earned two Grammy Awards during his career, spanning over 50 years. Long before his Disney success, the R&B star was a force on the Billboard R&B charts, starting with his 1976 debut album, Peabo.

His notable solo chart-toppers include the pop Top 10 crossover hit If Ever You're in My Arms Again (1984), as well as the R&B No. 1 hit Can You Stop the Rain (1991).

Beyond Disney, he became famous for pairings with other legendary female vocalists, most notably Tonight, I Celebrate My Love (1983) with Roberta Flack and Gimme Some Time with Natalie Cole.

His stroke follows a previous health setback in 2019 when the singer and songwriter was treated for a heart attack. Additional details about his current condition are not known, but fans have been sending him prayers on social media.

"Sending love and prayers to Peabo Bryson and his family," a person tweeted. "Wishing him strength, comfort, recovery." Another said, "I hope he will fully recover."

A third wrote, "Sending prayers please get well." One more posted, "Ah so sad..he recovered from illness before."

A fan shared on X, "Man, he just celebrated his 75th. Prayers up for him." A person wrote, "One of the greatest vocalists of all time! Prayers up for him."

Peabo has been married to British singer Tanya Boniface since 2010. They have one child together, a son born in 2018.

The couple originally met in England while Peabo was touring and Tanya, a former member of the early-2000s R&B girl group The 411, was performing. They have remained together for over 15 years.
