Stranger Things season 5, Volume 2 gets its first trailer to preview episodes 5-7.
"It's time to seek new worlds," Vecna teases, while the kids prepare for the endgame.
Everyone is "dead wrong" about the Upside Down, according to Dustin.
Stranger Things nears its climactic ending with the launch of the first trailer for season 5's Volume 2 batch of episodes.
After the four-episode collection of Volume 1 left viewers with some world-shattering cliffhangers, Netflix unveiled a peek at episodes 5-7 on Monday's Good Morning America. Much is revealed.
Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) formally recruits Kali (Linnea Berthelsen) to kill their "brother" after saving her from Dr. Kay's (Linda Hamilton) lab; Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) declares "it's time to seek new worlds"; Max (Sadie Sink) teams up with Holly (Nell Fisher) to explore the mindscape; and everyone is generally preparing for the worst.
"You die, I die," Steve (Joe Keery) and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) tell each other.
Team Hawkins was forced to lick their wounds at the end of Volume 1, but they also gained a new weapon. Will (Noah Schnapp) was able to channel Vecna's powers into powers of his own. Though, he's now in his head about it, having failed to save the kids. "We failed. We never stood a chance," he says.
Cue Joyce (Winona Byers) with the pep talk: "This is not over, not by a long shot."
The other big tease is Dustin's words about the Upside Down. He tells Steve that everything they thought they new about this other-worldly dimension "is dead wrong." Matt and Ross Duffer, series creators, signaled in press interviews that Volume 2 would uncover some big revelations about what exactly the Upside Down is.

"So much of the season was built around the idea of coming full circle, answering many of the questions that were posed all the way back in season 1,” Matt previously told Entertainment Weekly. “I think the two biggest questions that we didn’t really answer in season 1 that we do answer this season is ‘what is the Upside Down, truly?’ and ‘why was Will taken?’”
The Stranger Things 5 Volume 2 episodes will arrive on Christmas Day starting at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. The series finale, clocking in at around two hours, will then debut on New Year's Eve.
