It may be a bye week for the UCLA Bruins but that doesn’t mean that head coach Bob Chesney wasn’t working. Chesney checked out some local high school football, keeping an eye on the local talent who might be worthy of joining UCLA.
Chesney was spotted at St. John Bosco-JSerra by TeamFB7 reporter Matt Moreno. UCLA football posted a video of Chesney using a helicopter to get around Los Angeles to catch prep action around the area.
UCLA four-star commit Pole Moala and three-star edge rusher Godschoice Eboigbodin were both in action for JSerra in front of their future head coach in Bellflower, California.

In his short time with the Bruins, Chesney has already proven to be a capable recruiter. Part of the reason UCLA is 4-0 to begin the season is because Chesney added over 40 players in the transfer portal, giving the program experienced talent for the 2026 season.
UCLA’s 2027 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 17 by the 247 Sports Composite, the fifth-best in the Big Ten Conference. Under previous head coaches, UCLA hasn’t taken advantage of the abundance of talent in the area but Chesney is looking to change that for the Bruins.
The 2026 season has been kind to UCLA so far. The Chesney Experience has gone exactly how UCLA envisioned, quickly getting the Bruins in the Top-25 while finding success on the recruiting trail as well.
